Ulstein awarded SOV design contract

Florida-based Aeolus Energy has awarded Ulstein a design contract to develop the first ever US Jones Act-compliant offshore wind service operations vessel (SOV).

Based on a proven Ulstein walk-to-work vessel design, a customised version will be developed meeting the requirements of Aeolus Energy and the US Coast Guard.

The will be Ulstein’s first vessel design for the US offshore wind market. It also serves as Aeolus’ initial investment towards a fleet of vessels including cable ships, crew transfer vessels, and hotel ships, all to be constructed by US shipyards.
