A partnership formed by Singapore’s Vallianz Holdings, classification society Bureau Veritas, and Shift Clean Energy will design and build a new heavy transport vessel (HTV) that will support the construction of offshore wind farms.

Designed for worldwide operations, the HTV will be deployed for the transportation of structures such as monopiles, jackets, transition pieces, and turbine blades to support offshore wind farm projects as well as heavy structure modules for LNG facilities. The vessel will also carry out floatover operations of offshore structures.

The DP2-equipped vessel will have a hybrid power system consisting of dual-fuel engines and a battery energy storage system. An inverted bow design will help reduce energy consumption besides providing more comfortable and safer operations when sailing through waves.

The HTV will have an LOA of 173.6 metres and a 6,000-square-metre open deck that can accommodate up to 32,000 tonnes of cargo.

The vessel is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
