Saga Cruises christens newest ship

UK-based Saga Cruises has formally named the new cruise ship Spirit of Adventure.

The ship was handed over to Saga by Germany’s Meyer Werft in September 2020 and was due to take to the waters late last year. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, its inaugural cruise was postponed and will finally take place on Monday, July 26.

The ship will depart on its inaugural cruise from Tilbury. Once underway, it will sail on a round Britain cruise taking in Newcastle, Belfast, the Isle of Man, Liverpool, Holyhead, Bristol, Lundy Island, the north Cornwall coast, the Isles of Scilly and Falmouth before returning to Tilbury on August 10.

Spirit of Adventure has 554 cabins that can house a total of 999 guests. Each cabin comes with its own private balcony and wi-fi access.

Other amenities include five restaurants, a bar, a lounge, a 444-seat theatre, a library, a pool, and a sports court.
