SAAM Towage Canada and Coast Tsimshian Enterprises, a 100 per cent indigenous-owned collaborative undertaking between Lax Kw’alaams and Metlakatla First Nation, have entered into a strategic alliance agreement for the provision of towage, ship assist, and escort services.

The services indicated in the agreement will be rendered within the traditional territory of the Coast Tsimshian in British Columbia, including the Port of Prince Rupert and Port Edward. The alliance will also establish long-term sustainable benefits for Lax Kw’alaams and the Metlakatla First Nation and provide access to education, training, and employment opportunities for their members.

The agreement came into effect earlier this month.
