Rosmorrechflot approves reclamation under Lugaport project

Russia’s Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) has granted local port operator Ust-Luga approval to construct a series of artificial islands in the Leningrad region as part of the proposed Lugaport multi-functional terminal complex.

The reclamation, shore protection, and other related works will be carried out by Ust-Luga for Novotrans Group of Companies.

Artificial islands housing marine terminals for both general and bulk cargo are to be constructed under the project, which has an estimated cost of 46.5 million rubles (US$710,000).
