PortMiami surpasses 5.3 million passengers

Investment in cruise terminal infrastructure is helping accommodate more passengers at Miami.

More than 5.3 million passengers were welcomed to Miami in the 2016-2017 fiscal year in what PortMiami says was a record no other cruise port has reached.

PortMiami Director and CEO Juan M. Kuryla said the investment in cruise terminal infrastructure for the next generation of cruise ships was being rewarded. New cruise berths and terminals, including intermodal and parking facilities, are in the works.

The US$200 million Cruise Terminal A is scheduled to open in late 2018. And renovations at Cruise Terminal F will be completed soon.

One of America’s busiest ports, PortMiami contributes more than US$41.4 billion annually to Miami-Dade County and generates 324,000 direct and indirect jobs.
