Panama Canal conducts trial transit through the expanded Cocoli Locks

The Panama Canal has conducted a trial transit through the expanded canal’s Cocoli Locks.

The transiting vessel, a US-built crane ship, the ‘Oceanus’, was maneuvered through the Pacific-facing Cocoli Locks by Panama Canal pilots.

The inauguration of the expanded Panama Canal is expected to take place on June 26, with the first commercial transit of the COSCO Shipping Panama.

The new waterway will allow Neopanamax ships will be able to transit.
