NKT confirms turnkey order for Moray East offshore wind farm project

NKT has won the order for the turnkey high-voltage cable project for the Moray East offshore wind farm to be located off the North-East coast of Scotland.

NKT is to design, manufacture, and install the 175-kilometre 220kV AC offshore export cables to the Moray East offshore wind farm project in the UK.

The wind farm will provide renewable energy to one million UK households when fully operational in 2021.

The order consists of approximately 175 kilometres of 220kV AC offshore export cables, installation by the cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria, and burial of the cables. The contract value is estimated at approximately €150 million (US$172.3 million).

Installation of the cables is expected to commence in 2020.
