Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore inaugurates hybrid patrol craft

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) recently commissioned a new hybrid diesel-electric patrol and emergency response craft into service.

MPA Guardian has improved endurance and all-weather capability compared to earlier vessels in the MPA patrol fleet. Developed in collaboration with the Defence Science and Technology Agency of the Singapore Ministry of Defence and Penguin Shipyard International, the aluminium catamaran measures 34 metres long and is equipped for shallow-water rescues, drone deployment, and oil spill response and containment.

The vessel will also be used as a command and control platform during emergency response operations.
