MacGregor acquires Rapp Marine

MacGregor will strengthen its fishery and research vessel division with a €16 million (US$19.6 million) deal to acquire Rapp Marine Group (RMG) from Nord Kapitalforvaltning.

The deal allows MacGregor to offer complete solutions with advanced winches and related control systems.

MacGregor President Michel van Roozendaal said the transaction would benefit both companies.

“Products needed for these demanding vessel types have to be safe, robust and reliable with a good after-sales network,” said Mr van Roozendaal.

“This is exactly what our combined offering is able to provide, be it fishery segment that operates in harsh conditions, or solutions needed for research vessels to handle sophisticated tools and equipment.”

RMG, which has 120 employees in Norway, the US and UK, recorded sales of about €40 million (US$49 million) in 2017.

The sale is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2018.
