Denmark’s Ørsted and Canada’s Naikun Wind Energy Group have decided not to pursue further a joint development agreement for the 400MW Haida Energy Field Offshore Wind Project in British Columbia and to end partnership discussions.

The partnership was formed in September 2017 when the two companies signed a letter of intent to explore opportunities around the site.

The proposed wind farm would have been located within the 260-kilometre Hecate Strait between mainland British Columbia and the former Queen Charlotte islands.

Ørsted has stated it wishes to further expand its US portfolio while Naikun is currently in discussion with interested alternate partners to help advance the project to the development stage.
