Lithuanian Armed Forces to begin pollution response ship procurement programme

The Lithuanian Armed Forces is set to launch in April a procurement programme for a new oil pollution response and maritime rescue ship for operation in the Baltic Sea.

The €39.6 million (US$44 million) acquisition will be financed through European Union Structural Assistance funding.

The winning bid will be announced in December of this year while the completion of the vessel is scheduled for 2022.
