Houston Ship Channel deepening gets US$142 million federal funding

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has allocated US$142.5 million for the deepening and widening of the Houston Ship Channel as part of its FY22 Workplan for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

This funding is specifically designated to complete Segment Three of Project 11, which will focus on the Barbours Cut Container Terminal section of the channel.

Completion of Segment Three will facilitate handling of larger container vessels at the terminal.
