Hanwha donates solar-powered boats for Mekong River cleanup

South Korea’s Hanwha has donated a batch of solar-powered boats to the Vietnam Environment Administration and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) of Vietnam as part of the Clean Up Mekong campaign.

The boats are equipped with conveyor belts to quickly and efficiently scoop up rubbish and other pollutants floating on the surface of the Mekong River, particularly along the stretch of the river that passes through Vinh Long province.

Because the boats are powered and propelled by solar energy, they will be able to operate without emitting greenhouse gases or other pollutants. The boats are also silent, resulting in minimal disturbance to the local wildlife.
