A Ukrainian-flagged cargo vessel bound for Greece ran aground after suffering a hull breach in the Dnieper River on Thursday, November 22.

The 3,104DWT Orel 3 had just left port at Zaporozhye when the incident occurred at around 06:00 UTC.

The master then intentionally had the vessel beached on the river bank to minimise water ingress following the breach. No details on injuries or oil spill have been released.

Orel 3 was carrying scrap at the time of the incident.
