The service will be subsidised by state funds in accordance with the European Union rules governing a Service of General Economic Interest to a total of €5.5 million (US$) for the three-year contract, with the possibility of an extension of the contract for a further three years.

The service will be offered on a weekly basis between April/May and September/October only as a seasonal service. Therefore, the service will provide a total of 22 return sailings per year.
