Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has completed an extensive mid-life upgrade (MLU) on ROKS Lee Eok Gi, a Chang Bogo-class diesel-electric attack submarine of the South Korean Navy.

The submarine is now equipped with a towed array sonar, a more modern combat management suite, and improved target detection and tracking sensors. The work to retrofit the submarine commenced in July 2018.

Commissioned in 2001, Lee Eok Gi is the ninth Chang Bogo-class submarine to be built and the third and final ship in the class to undergo MLUs at DSME under a ₩179 billion (US$154 million) programme.
