CSSC Chengxi Shipbuilding and Oldendorff Carriers have signed a contract for two 21,500-tonne self-unloading bulk carriers.

The vessels will each have a length of 145 metres, a width of 34 metres, a depth of 12 metres, and two advanced pod-type 360-degree full-slewing propellers which are driven by three generators.

CSSC Chengxi claims the maximum unloading capacity will be rated at 2,600 tonnes per hour, with each ship’s entire bulk cargo capable of being unloaded in as little as eight hours.
