Svitzer Australia has advise its customers and stakeholders that it has reached an in-principle agreement with the three local maritime unions for a proposed, new National Towage Enterprise Agreement and that the company is now preparing for a vote on that agreement.

Svitzer said current focus is to inform its colleagues covered by the agreement and the “certainty and benefits [the agreement] provides.”

The company assured that it has made a “fair offer” and its hope is that this is reflected in a favourable vote.

The ballot opens on Thursday, June 8, and closes on Saturday, June 10. Svitzer will advise of the outcomes of the vote as soon as it is available and appropriate to do so.

The company has acknowledged the Fair Work Commission for its assistance during negotiations.
