The Bangladesh Coast Guard has taken delivery of six new patrol and harbour security boats in a series from Bangladesh Navy-owned Khulna Shipyard.

The vessels were designed by South Africa-based naval architects Icarus Marine in compliance to Bureau Veritas class rules.

Each boat has a length of 15.4 metres, space for 12 personnel, and one weapons mount for a heavy machine gun. Two Volvo Penta 410kW engines deliver a maximum speed of 27 knots and a range of 300 nautical miles.

The onboard facilities on each boat also include four crew bunks.
