Built in Geraldton in 2018 by Peter Ellis’s Xtreme Marine, Gambler is a 23.1-metre cray fishing boat which features impressive endurance, total carrying capacity, live product capacity, habitability and overall economy.
She completely fits the owner's operational style, which is pretty much the new norm. Her areas of operation range from Denham in the north and Dongara in the south. A normal working spell is three pulling days, two nights at sea, then return home. When working deep, those two nights save a huge amount of travel time and a great deal of fuel. Gambler operates around 150 pots, which can be stacked two deep leaving ample working deck area.
She's powered by twin MTU 8V2000 engines and runs twin Zenith/Isuzu 30kVa three-phase gensets. This build of genset has been a common size for this type of fishing vessel and Isuzu’s reliability is ideal for multiple day fishing vessels such as Gambler. The Isuzu/Meccalte engine/alternator combination is capable of producing an output of 30kVa three-phase (continuous), which gives the vessel plenty of power for all of her operational requirements.
