TasPorts is undertaking seabed levelling activities in the Port of Burnie, starting Wednesday, December 7.

The company expects the works to take up to four weeks to complete, incorporating a break over the Christmas/New Year period.

TasPorts Chief Operation Officer Stephen Casey said the work was required to be undertaken in line with the company’s commitment to ensure the ongoing, safe movement of vessels in and around its port areas.

Mr Casey said no materials would be removed from the port during the levelling project. The work, to be completed in accordance with TasPorts’ Environmental Standard – Seabed Levelling Activities, will occur between 06:00 and 22:00 seven days a week.
