The Queensland Government is inviting feedback on the concept design for the River Heads Boating Facilities upgrade.
The project will upgrade boating infrastructure at an important gateway to the Great Sandy Strait and K'gari, replacing the ageing floating walkway and improving the boating experience.
Key features include replacing the existing floating walkway with a new modern structure, installing a new pontoon at the outer end of the new floating walkway, extending the wave protection rock wall, and delivering boat ramp repairs and improvements.
Local residents and boaters are encouraged to review the concept design and share feedback on whether it reflects community needs, priorities and local considerations.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads said feedback will help refine the design before it is finalised, and will be considered alongside technical, environmental and operational requirements before the design is finalised.
Construction is expected to be completed by Maritime Safety Queensland by mid-2027, weather and marine conditions permitting. The community will be updated when construction timing, the final design and key milestones are confirmed.
