The Whale Warriors: On Board the Sea Shepherd’s Pirate Ship to Save the World’s Largest Mammals

Baird Maritime
Author: Peter Heller
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers

From Baird Maritime:

The author of this book could not be, as the blurb proclaims, in any way described as a journalist. There is not an ounce of objectivity in his creation.

Judging, also, from the parts of which this reviewer has some knowledge, there is not a great deal of accuracy about it. It is basically a highly hyped adventure story that glorifies appalling behaviour at sea. It also very clearly shows how easily the general public can be conned. In that sense it is very instructive.

Irrespective of your views on whaling, particularly Japanese style industrial whaling, if you are a mariner, you are likely to be disgusted with the antics of the Sea Shepherd gang as described here.

Those who disagree with the Sea Shepherds should remember a favourite epithet of their leader, Paul Watson. That is, "If you don't fight, you lose", Perhaps the author could next turn his attention to glorifying the Somali pirates!
