From Baird Maritime
The author makes very clear what many people don't know. That is that the Crimean War was not just fought in the Crimea.
It in fact encompassed the Baltic and White seas, the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Azoff. Indeed, anywhere the even then huge country of Russia had a coast.
The excellent text is enhanced by a large number of very good engravings and maps.
The failings of the British army in the Crimean War – remember the charge of the Light Brigade – are well known. The successes of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines are hardly known at all. This excellent book puts the record straight.
