Queensland, Australia-based maritime services provider Riverside Oceanic recently acquired a catamaran workboat.
The 2003-built Riverside Explorer is a research and survey vessel designed to support a diverse range of maritime applications including hydrography, offshore energy support, and dive support.
The vessel has an LOA of 14 metres, a beam of 5.5 metres, a maximum draught of only 1.5 metres, and a total deck area of 40 square metres. The deck equipment includes an A-frame, a deck crane with a lifting capacity of 500 kg, and an electrically-driven anchor.
Two Cummins 6CTA8.3M main engines that each produce 321 kW at 2,600 rpm drive fixed-pitch propellers to deliver a maximum speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. A separate Cummins 17.5kVA generator supplies electrical power for all onboard systems.
The accommodation includes cabins, a four-seat galley, and a client office. The sanitary facilities meanwhile consist of one toilet and one shower.
