Modern Maritime Law: Volume 2: Managing Risks and Liabilities

Marjorie Gerlinger
Third Edition
Author: Aleka Mandaraka-Sheppard
Publisher: Informa Law from Routledge

From Baird Maritime

The fact that this enormous two-volume work has supported three editions over twelve years speaks for itself. One hopes the author celebrated with a big party upon its completion.

More than 900 pages long, this second volume is perhaps of more value to the lay reader. As its sub-title makes clear, it is more about using history to prevent future expensive legal mistakes.

The author is an unusually well qualified individual with a joint Greek and British background in law and life. Indeed, she is legally qualified in both Britain and Greece. This facilitates her truly global approach to this most international of legal subjects.

As far as an overview of international maritime law in 2014 is concerned, this is the bible.

Invaluable.
