Macduff Shipyards delivers ‘Fruitful Vine’

Baird Maritime

Macduff Shipyards, UK, has completed the 'Fruitful Vine' for Nicol Fishing, which will be under the command of John Nicol, and will work out of Fraserburgh through Fraserburgh Inshore Fishermen Limited.

This vessel is a repeat of the 'Rebecca', which was built by the yard in 2008.

The 'Fruitful Vine' replaces a wooden vessel of the same name which was built in Sandhaven.

The hull form is double chine, with a deep box keel for ballast. The stern is well raked forward over an extended bulbous bow.

The vessel has an overall length of 21.2 metres, a beam of seven metres and a moulded depth of 3.9 metres.

The main engine is a Mitsubishi S6R MPTK rated 480kW at 1,350rpm with a Reintjes WAF374 reverse reduction gearbox with 6.12:1 reduction ratio, driving a 1,900mm diameter Lips propeller in a Lips fixed nozzle.

A Cummins 6CTA 8.3m auxiliary engine is fitted on the port side, and is arranged to drive the hydraulic pumps for the deck machinery. The engine is heat exchanger cooled and is rated 190kW at 1,800rpm, with variable speed control from the wheelhouse.

Two Cummins 6BT 3.9 DIM 58kW 415/3/50 generator sets are fitted on the starboard side, with one fitted with a deadship start.

The Mitsubishi main engine, Reintjes gearbox, and the two Cummins generator sets are arranged for keel cooling, with Ferstrum gridcoolers supplied by Kort Propulsion.
