South Korea: Gwangdong FRP has delivered a fire boat intended for service in the Masan Port of Korea.
This rapid response fire and rescue craft has an overall length of 26.25 metres and a beam of 5.1 metres. Twin 1,360 kW Caterpillar C32 DITA engines power the UltraJet 575 waterjets via Reintjes WVS430/1 gearboxes with a ratio of 1.48:1. The UltraJet and engine combination provides high thrust, and fully loaded the vessel achieves a top speed of 35 knots.
The vessel was built to a design from KR Engineering. The hull form is a deep-V moulded in FRP. It is equipped with fire fighting pumps with a discharge of 250 cubic metres/hour at a range of 50 metres and fire fighting foam.
As well as being equipped to undertake major fire fighting, the vessel will carry out rescue and towing missions. The vessel is fitted with a stern launchable five-metre RIB and towing beam and quick release towing hook. It has a bollard pull capacity of up to three tonnes.
