IHC Merwede, The Netherlands, has launched a brand new series of IHC Beaver cutter suction dredgers.
"Innovative technology is used to make the new Beaver dredgers more environmentally friendly, safer and more efficient," said Govert Hamers, President of IHC Merwede.
"The Beaver cutter suction dredger combines lower operating costs and high productivity with reliability and ease of operation."
The efficient use of power is ensured by applying a single, low-emission, diesel engine for all energy consumers on board, such as the dredge pump, hydraulic installation and 230V board net.
In addition, the IHC Beaver 50 has grease-free bearings for all the wire sheaves on board to eliminate spillage of lubrication grease into ambient water. The diesel engine is also placed on vibration dampers to reduce noise levels.
The new series comprises the Beaver 30, 40, 45, 50, 55 DDSP and 65 DDSP. The type number indicates the internal discharge pipe diameter in centimetres.
"DDSP" indicates the use of a (diesel) directly driven submerged pump that is standard for the larger dredger models.
