Flip Side War

Baird Maritime
Author: Ean McDonald
Publisher: Hesperian Press

From Baird Maritime:

A very well written and interestingly illustrated series of anecdotes. They describe a largely good war experienced by a boy progressing to manhood.

The author joined the Royal Australian Naval Reserve as an ordinary seaman signalman at age nineteen in 1939. He departed as a hydrographer commander in 1951.

This book covers his formative war time years. It really captures the feeling of life on board mostly smaller ships, destroyers and, mainly, the corvette 'HMAS Shepparton'.

A very personal but widely encompassing record of a life led to the full by an enthusiastic young officer and his shipmates aboard a happy ship.
