Kvichak Marine Industries has launched and completed successful sea trials for 'Defender V', a new design all-aluminium foil assisted catamaran. Designed in-house, this 17.6-metre vessel can be used as a fast response patrol boat, survey boat, crewboat or general work boat.
Twin Scania DI12 69M marine diesel engines rated for 515kW at 2,300RPM power 'Defender V'. The engines are coupled to ZF 360A transmissions that drive Michigan propellers. In trials, 'Defender V' was able to achieve a flank speed of more than 30 knots.
The vessel features a very large aft work-deck with tie-pockets, a 1-tonne SWL A-frame with hydraulic drum winch, and a side mounted davit with winch. The A-frame can facilitate the launch and recovery of skiffs/ROVs and can accommodate an over-height 20-foot container loaded on the aft deck.
