Brazilian Navy reinvesting in submarines?

Valentine Watkins

Norway's TTS Group, through its port and logistics subsidiary TTS Handling Systems, has signed a new contract in Brazil for a 130-million NOK (US$21.9 million) shiplift package designed for the handling of submarines.

The sixth TTS shiplift contract in succession, the turnkey contract comprises the design, manufacturing, transportation, installation and commissioning of an 8,000-tonne shiplift for the Brazilian Navy.

The delivery also includes the provision of a 110-metre, 20-metre wide platform together with its operational and control systems.

The equipment deliveries will be completed in July 2015. The order signals increased investment into Brazil's submarine program.
