Young Australians aged between 16 and 23 years of age have the opportunity to crew the tall ship, 'Young Endeavour' in 2010, with no previous sailing experience required.
A voyage on 'Young Endeavour' is an adventure of a lifetime and an opportunity develop teamwork and leadership skills as part of a world-recognised programme, awarded International Sailing Training Programme of the Year.
During an eleven-day voyage, young crew will be trained by staff from the Royal Australian Navy to sail the 'Young Endeavour'. They will climb the 30-metre mast, set sails, navigate, keep watch and take the helm. They will also take command of the ship for 24 hours.
"Sailing Young Endeavour is an amazing way to develop important life-long skills such as teamwork, meeting a challenge, respect for others, self-confidence, self-awareness, leadership and shared responsibility," said Brendan Josey who sailed from Airlie Beach to Mackay in 2009.
Since 1988, the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme, in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy, has provided challenging training voyages for over 11,000 young Australians in the tall ship.
Applications are open until February 28, 2010.
