The Washington Marine Group has confirmed that Abu Dhabi Mar has purchased three of BC Ferries' former PaciCat vessels.
These vessels, referred to as, "embarrassing remnants of BC Ferries' history" by Interferry, were purchased at over-budget prices and proved to be unusable.
In 2003, Washington Marine Group bought the vessels for US$18 million. The vessels' original prices were over US$425 million each.
Washington Marine Group did not reveal the price Abu Dhabi Mar bought the ferries for.
