Russian marine robotics specialist Navis recently unveiled a new product range of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to be marketed to customers in the survey, offshore, and security sectors.
The ROVs will be available in light, medium and heavy variants with different rated maximum diving depths ranging from 150 metres to 1,000 metres. All examples will be designed to be easily transportable and highly manoeuvrable with the possibility of being retrofitted with additional equipment if needed.
The standard equipment on each Navis ROV will include a gyrocompass, an inertial navigation system, a hydroacoustic navigation system, an echosounder, a depth gauge, a multibeam sonar, a navigation computer, HD cameras, underwater lights, and a manipulator.
Other equipment such as water quality sensors may be installed on the craft depending on operator requirements.
Possible applications of the ROVs will include underwater surveillance in reservoirs, maritime archaeology, ocean research, aquaculture support, search and rescue, and inspection, maintenance and repair of offshore infrastructure.
