The National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) is aiming to expand its fleet by 72 percent by 2013, reports Bloomberg.
An additional 22 very large crude carriers (VLCCs) would make the company the third biggest oil tanker operator in the world.
Area Manager Capt. R. Ghareh told reporters in Sharjah that NITC would acquire 74 vessels in total, including smaller tankers. NITC currently operates 28 VLCCs and a total of 43 ships.
