HHI completes world’s largest cylindrical FPSO

Valentine Watkins

Hyundai Heavy Industries has completed the construction of the world's largest cylindrical-shaped FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading).

The 'Goliat' FPSO was loaded onto the world's biggest marine transport vessel 'Dockwise Vanguard' in South Korea to travel to the Goliat oilfield in the Barents Sea for ENI Norge. The 60-day journey will see the vessel travel around the southern tip of Africa.

The 'Goliat' is the largest cargo the 'Dockwise Vanguard' has ever transported and has a diameter of 107 metres. Norwegian company Sevan Marine carried out the design. It is designed to cope with the Arctic conditions of the Barents Sea.The FPSO will be supplied with electricity from the longest submarine cable of its type in the world from the mainland from Norway.
