Hamburg Süd's 'Rio de la Plata' arrived at Hamburg's HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) on June 7.
The vessel is 286 metres long, 40 metres wide and has a cargo carrying capacity of 5,900TEU as well as 1,365 connections for reefers. With a deadweight tonnage of 80,455 tonnes, the ship has a maximum draught of 13.2 metres.
'Rio de la Plata' is part of the River Plate Express service between northern Europe and the east coast of South America. Each of the four Rio-classed vessels on the service has a slot capacity of 5,900TEU.
In the coming weeks, the vessel's sister ships, 'Rio Blanco', 'Rio de Janeiro' and 'Rio Negro' will all call at the Port of Hamburg. By the end of the year Hamburg Süd will be expanding its fleet with two more vessels of this class.
