The d'Amico Group has launched four new "eco-ship" vessels in Ulsan, Korea.
Designed in collaboration with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, the four new units will be added to a fleet of tankers owned by subsidiary d'Amico Tankers.
Boasting reduced emissions and increased efficiency, the "eco tanker" concept is the product of close collaboration between d'Amico and Hyundai Mipo. Fuel savings are reportedly up six tonnes per day for fully loaded vessels at 14 knots, whilst emissions reductions include a 20 per cent cut in CO2.
The four new RINA-classified vessels, christened 'Cielo di Gaeta', 'Cielo di New York', 'High Freedom' and 'High Discovery', all measure 183 metres in length with 32-metre beams.
The first two vessels will transport a load of 40,00DWT, with the other two carrying 50,000DWT. They will be used primarily to transport refined petroleum products and have all been chartered.
