CMA CGM ‘Cayenne’ delivered

The CMA CGM Group has announced that the CMA CGM 'Cayenne' – the first of three Guyanamax vessels – was delivered in South Korea on July 21st.

This 2,100TEU capacity vessel (including 530 reefer containers) is 190 metres long and has a beam of 30 metres. It was built by the Korean shipyard Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and will be sailing under the UK flag.

The 'Cayenne' will be positioned on the North Europe-French Guiana-North Brazil (NEFGUI) line. This 42-day rotation joins the North of Europe, the Caribbean, French Guyana and North Brazil each week. The vessel will call at Algeciras, Rotterdam, Tillbury, Rouen, Le Havre, Philipsburg, Port of Spain, Degrad des Cannes, Belem, Fortaleza, Natal and Algeciras.

In line with the sustainable development policy of the group, the vessel is equipped with all the latest environmental technologies which significantly reduce its C02 emissions, as well as the group's carbon footprint. It is equipped with new bulbous bow shapes improving the hydrodynamics of the vessel at a speed of 16 to 18 knots, an electronically controlled long stroke engine offering the best in fuel consumption, a twisted leading edge rudder with bulb and a ballast water treatment system.

The first of the three Guyanamax's to join the 465-vessel fleet, the series will be completed in September with the 'Marseille' and the 'Saint Laurent'. Those vessels will also be positioned on the NEFGUI line increasing the line's capacity by 18 per cent.
