Tebma delivers two tugs to Cochin Port Trust

India: Tebma Shipyards has delivered two 45-tonne bollard pull tugs in to the Cochin Port Trust in south India. Both tugs were designed in house and built to IRS classifications.

Each tug measures 32 metres by 10.65 metres and 5.04 metres draft. Full load displacement is 625 tonnes with 126DWT.

Main propulsion power is delivered by pair of Wartsila 9L20 marine diesel engines rated 1800kW at 1000rpm each. The tug is propelled by a pair of Voith Schneider propellers 28R5/210-2. The five-bladed propellers have 2800mm orbit diameter and 2100mm blade length. The vessel achieved a speed of 12.8 knots at 90 percent MCR and a bollard pull of 46.14 tonnes at 100 percent MCR during trails.

Twin generator sets consisting of Kirloskar engines coupled to Crompton alternators each provide power for bilge pump, hydrophore pumps, fuel oil pump, Capstan, windlass and general lighting of the vessel.

The tug is equipped with two "SKUM" fire monitors with a capacity of 300 cubic-metre per hour, each capable of achieving a throw of 120 metres for external fire fighting.

Tebma Shipyards is a private sector shipyard located in Chennai, India. In the last 15 years the shipyard has built and delivered over 120 vessels.
