Svitzer has acquired a controlling stake in Brazilian harbour towage operator Transmar Servicos Maritimos and has begun offering towage services in Brazil.
The acquisition represents Svitzer's first step into the Brazilian towage market.
Based in Rio de Janeiro, Transmar Servicos Maritimos operates in two ports and two oil basins, and has a fleet of 10 vessels and 74 employees.
