The 'Brage', the first RAscal 1500-class tug designed by Robert Allan Ltd. has been delivered to its owners Buksér og Berging of Norway.

Built in Turkey by Sanmar to a "yacht-like" standard under ABS survey, the tug measures 14.9 metres in length, with a beam of 8.3 metres and a draught of 3.1 metres.

Powered by a pair of 350kW Caterpillars driving Veth VZ-550 azimuthing drives through carbon fibre shafts, the vessel achieved a top speed of 9.9 knots and a bollard pull of 13.5 tonnes on trials.

The primary role of the 'Brage' is a mooring/line boat. For this she is fitted with a removable pipe cage over the house and a folding mast.

On board accommodation is provided for a crew of four in well arranged and spacious accommodation, including the addition of vynic synthetic teak deck coverings.

The bulwarks at the bow are cut down to facilitate picking up floating lines, whilst a hydraulic capstan and knuckle boom crane are also fitted on the aft deck.

The towing equipment consists of a hydraulic DMT winch on the foredeck and a Data tow hook aft.
