Russia's Pella Shipyard has signed a contract with Admiralty Shipyards for the delivery of a tug.
Pella won an open competition and has been acknowledged the only contractor, with delivery scheduled for 2016.The tug will be 25.4 metres long, 8.8 metres wide and have a draught of 3.57 metres.
The tug is intended for towing and berthing operations in harbour, off-harbour and in coastal areas which comply with the R3 navigation area. Other tasks will include the refloating of ships and vessels, fire fighting operations at floating and shore objects, oil spill response activities, cargo transportation, ice breaking and erosion operations.
Deck equipment will include a bow electro-hydraulic anchor-towing-mooring winch by Fluidmecanica, which will provide 10 tonnes of bollard pull and 847kN of brake holding force.
Additionally, a 60-tonne towing hook with a quick release device will be installed.
