Rizhao Port, Shandong, receives powerful offshore tug pair

Rizhao Gangda Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co. has delivered Ri Gang Tuo 32 and Ri Gang Tuo 33, a pair of offshore towing and vessel assistance tugs, to Rizhao Port in Shandong, China.

Remote monitoring and control systems are integrated on the Robert Allan Ltd-designed tugs, to improve performance and safety, distinguishing them within the port fleets.

The pair measure in at 37.2 metres in length overall, with 11.8-metre beams and 5.73-metre moulded depths, for gross tonnages of 626.

Eacg main propulsion system comprises two Niigata 8L28HX diesel engines and two Niigata ZP-41 units, for a bollard pull ahead of 82.6 tonnes and free running speed of 14.2 knots.

A spacious lounge, master cabin, chief engineer’s cabin and galley are arranged on the main deck, while the lower deck houses eight single cabins for crew members including officers.

The tugs were designed and constructed to comply with all applicable rules and regulations of CCS to the notation ★ CSA, Tug, R2, ★ CSM, AUT-0.
