Bulgarian towage operator Port Flot – Burgas has placed an order for a new ASD harbour tug that will be operated in the Bay of Burgas along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast.
The tug will be built to a design by Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd. It will join Port Flot – Burgas' other tugs in assisting vessels at Burgas Port, Port Bulgaria West, BMF Port Burgas, KRZ Port, Nessebar passenger port, and various nearby shipyards.
The new tug will have an LOA of 24.4 metres, a moulded beam of 12 metres, a least moulded depth of 4.5 metres, and a navigational draught of approximately 5.45 metres. A twin Z-drive, diesel-powered vessel, it will have accommodation for a crew of six and will achieve a bollard pull over its stern of at least 70 tonnes and a free running speed of 12 knots.
The two main engines will meet stringent IMO Tier III emission standards, and advanced machinery automation will optimise efficiency. Tank capacities will include 77,900 litres of fuel oil, 11,500 litres of potable water, and a 7,700 litres of foam for use by the onboard firefighting monitors.
The tug is scheduled for delivery in August 2025.
