Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) recently took delivery of a new tug built by subsidiary Zygh Ship Repair and Construction Yard.
Azygh has a length of 26 metres, a beam of 6.7 metres, and space for 12 crewmembers. An assortment of cargo totalling three tonnes can be transported on the vessel's open aft deck.
Power is provided by a 331kW main engine, which drives a fixed-pitch propeller housed in an azimuthing thruster. This arrangement can deliver a speed of 10 knots.
The accommodation spaces include two single cabins for the captain and the chief engineer and three two-berth cabins for the remainder of the crew. There are also five watertight compartments.
Secondary duties will include transfers of technicians to and from offshore platforms and limited cargo transport.
Azygh is a sister vessel of ASCO-1, which was handed over to the same owner in 2023. Both tugs were designed and built in compliance with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping requirements.
