‘Belukha’ tug delivered to Russia

Russia's State Commission has recently taken delivery of the special purpose tug 'Belukha'.

Part of Project 16609, the tug was constructed to perform deepwater investigations for the Ministry of Defense.

Following commissioning, the tug will be put into operation in the Baltic Fleet Navy, where she will be based out of the port of Lomonosov.

The vessel is also capable of performing towing and berthing operations (either in-harbour or along coastal areas), as well as conducting escort duties, search and rescue response, and re-floating of ships and vessels.

The vessel is also equipped for fire-fighting, cargo transfer, icebreaking and oil recovery operations.

Measuring 28.5 metres in length overall, the vessel has a beam of 9.5 metres, a draught of 3.4 metres, a speed of 12 knots and a 49-tonne bollard pull.
