UK builder Alnmaritec has delivered three new boats to Svitzer for support operations on a new LNG terminal in Angola, West Africa.
The vessels were two new Wave Sentinel-class 20-metre fast patrol boats and one new Wave Pilot-class 16-metre pilot boat. The boats were designed for Alnmaritec by Camarc.
The patrol boats feature a double chine hull form, which gives them excellent seakeeping characteristics and superb handling at high speed. Powered by twin 10V MTU engines, they reached over 37 knots on trials. Below decks they are fully air-conditioned and have sleeping accommodation for up to six persons and seating for up to ten passengers and three crew. The vessels are fitted with a dive platform and ladder at the stern.
The new pilot boat carries up to eight pilots in comfort in the main wheelhouse, with a galley, mess area, WC, shower and berth space in the spacious accommodation below decks. Her performance also exceeded expectations in trials, reaching 27 knots and demonstrating exceptional handling characteristics in a sea state.
